WHAT IS TURMERIC?
Turmeric is mainly harvested in Southeast Asia. In Ayurvedic medicine, the turmeric plant has been revered for its healing properties for thousands of years. As a powder, turmeric also gives the curry powder its characteristic yellow color. The plant is also traditionally known as “Indian saffron”. The most important ingredient in turmeric is what is known as curcumin. This is said to have health-promoting and anti-inflammatory effects.
